Introduction
My name is Bill Rodawalt and I am the Lead Teacher at the Maximum Achievement Program alternative high school in Dillingham, Alaska. I have been working in Dillingham since November 26th 2004. I work, primarily, with students who are 'at risk' of dropping out of high school. This can be because of academic difficulties or social situations. In addition to my teaching duties, I also have a contract to run the day-to-day administration of the Alternative school. For more information on the MAP alternative high school you can visit www.maximumachievementprogram.org .
I received my B.A. in Psychology from the University of Toledo, in Toledo, Ohio in 1996. I was then admitted to dual Ph.D programs in Clinical Psychology and Neuroscience at Indiana University Bloomington. In 2001, I completed a terminal Master of Arts degree in Psychology. While working as a research lab coordinator, I began pursuing a Masters
of Science in Social Studies Education, also at Indiana University - Bloomington . As part of my Masters program in education, I did my student
teaching assignment through the American Indian Reservation Project at a Navajo
high school in Pinon, Arizona. I completed my Masters of Education in 2004.
On a personal note, I am interested in travel and generally spend about six weeks each summer traveling. As part of this, I have been visiting each of the MLB baseball stadiums. I now have only seven stadiums left to visit. This past year I visited stadiums in Boston, Cleveland and Seattle. Additionally, this past summer I went to Ohio, Pennsylvania, Colorado, Wyoming, and California.
Over the past few years I also visited Canada, Germany, France, Australia, New Zealand, Portugal, England, Scotland, Wales, and Barbados.
Two Truths and a Lie:
I have met a sitting President of the United States.

Two Truths and a Lie:
I have met a sitting President of the United States.
I am an avid Cosplayer.
I have visited the CIA.
I'll guess the sitting president is the lie
ReplyDeleteI agree, that sounds like one heck of a contract! But, it is small in Dellingham. Teachers and admin. Have multiple responsibilities with lack of employees for the rural villages in Alaska.
ReplyDeleteI am guessing your lie is, "I have visited the CIA." Either way all 3 sound super cool!
ReplyDeleteI bet you only have met a president who was standing :)
ReplyDeleteMet President two years ago when he visited Dillingham. I actually had a conversation with him. I was supposed to have two students meet him and one was left off the Secret Service list. I introduced him to my other students and then said "Mr. President I was supposed to have another student meet you but she didn't make it on the Secret Service list, it would be nice if you could do something for her". He said, "Maybe I can sign something for her if you give the staff her name, but wehave to leave". He took a couple steps away and sai "Is she here?" I said, "yes". Then he said "go get her". I looked around at the Secret Service to make sure they weren't going to tackle me for moving and I got her out of the crowd. President Obama went all the way back through the receiving line shaking more hands and made his way back to the other side of the gym and I introduced him to my student who asked for a selfie. But he said he could not do selfies because then everyone would want one. .... Additionally, because of where my classroom is locates, the President had lunch in my room and signed a bank for me.
ReplyDeleteI have also been to the "CIA Official Visitor's Entrance" which REALLY should be called the "CIA Entrance for Official Visitors" . They really did not seem interested in having visitors. Long and funny story.
ReplyDeleteI like Cosplay but have not done the costume thing yet.
ReplyDeleteI am fascinated by the Obama story! What a neat thing to happen in Dillingham!
